ROCKHOPPER Exploration plc has confirmed that its latest well in the North Falkand Basin is dry.Well 14/10-8 was the latest in a campaign of appraisal drilling in and around Rockhopper's original Sea Lion discovery well, which was declared in May 2010.

Engineering team to Antarctica to explore hidden lake

A British engineering team will head to Antarctica for the first stage of an ambitious scientific mission next week to collect water and sediment samples from a lake buried beneath three kilometres of solid ice.This extraordinary research project will yield new knowledge about the evolution of life on Earth and other planets, and will provide vital clues about the Earth's past climate, said a spokesperson for the project.

ITV Wales is screening the story of a woman Catherine Thomas who survived the seas of Cape Horn and ended up in the Falklands almost 100 years ago.Distinguished Welsh artist Gwilym Prichard describes his aunt's amazing survival of a shipwreck near Cape Horn, as men froze to death around her.
