DESPITE shockingly wet and snowy weather a large crowd of Falklands' residents attended a remembrance service for those who lost their lives in the war of 1982. The service was held at the Liberation Monument at 11am.
Following a service held at the Christchurch Cathedral a parade of British forces, Falkland Islands war veterans, the local volunteer force the Falkland Islands Defence Force and youth groups, was lead by the visiting Salamanca band to the Liberation monument on Ross Road.
A multi-denominational service followed and wreaths were laid by representatives of many organisations within the community. A wreath was also laid by visiting FCO Minister Jeremy Browne.
The crowd then moved on to a public reception.
