  • Governor's Cup Darts: First time winners Chris and Jackie take top spots

    The Governor's Cup darts tournament was held in the Town Hall on Saturday July 14.  Eight boards were in play and kept in steady use throughout the evening but even so it was 1am before the prize giving was completed.

  • Falklands responds to Argentine 'disrespectful' olympic advert

    ian_hansenARGENTINA has again combined sport and politics with a 90 second pre Olympic television advert showing an Argentine hockey player training in and around Stanley and claiming, "to compete on English soil, we train on Argentine soil."

    Member of Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly Ian Hansen (left) responded today: "We were very disappointed this morning to see the advert from the Argentine Presidential Office, attempting to politicise the Olympics in service of their territorial ambitions.  This video was filmed without the knowledge of the Falkland Islands authorities."

  • Falklands Archery Association Crazy Golden Arrow

    THIS month's golden arrow competition was put on hold due to a large number of the club's regular shooters not being available for one reason or another. Instead an 'insane' individual 120 arrow shoot took place on FITA 18m three spot faces, which only have the inner five scoring zones -  six through to ten.

    THE annual Championship Dog Trial event was eventually held at Westley Farm on Sunday  April 22, having being cancelled on Saturday due to bad weather conditions and ferry passengers not arriving on the Friday night. Calm and frosty with a light covering of snow, it was a pleasant enough day for working dogs and an excellent photographic opportunity.

  • The Falkland Islands Junior Games by Natalie Brett

    The first annual Falkland Islands Junior Games was held last weekend at the Stanley Leisure Centre.

    Over 50 children participated in archery, badminton, cricket, football, netball or swimming competitions throughout the day on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11.
