Argentine Foreign Affairs Minister takes complaint against UK ‘militarisation’ of Falkland Islands to UN

tmARGENTINE Foreign Affairs Minister Hector Timerman will today present Argentina's complaint against the so-called militarisation by the UK of the South Atlantic, to the United Nations.

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner announced during her speech on Tuesday night that the formal complaint would be made.

Mercopress reports that Timerman will report to Ambassador Kodjo Menan, President of the UN Security Council as well as personally to the president of the UN General Assembly Ambassador Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser and Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the continued violation by the UK of the almost forty UN resolutions which call for a dialogue between the UK and Argentina on the Falkland Islands

The Argentine Minister has also scheduled meetings in the UN with the president of the Decolonization Committee, Ambassador Pedro Nuñez Mosquera, and representatives from Colombia and Guatemala, the countries that currently represent Latin America in the Security Council.
