MORRISON (Falklands) Ltd has started works on the Sapper Hill housing development on the south west edge of Stanley.
Regional manager Mike Butler said that on behalf of the Government infrastructure works had commenced on the first of four phases to increase the potential housing stock for Stanley.
"The initial phase is to provide a six metre wide spine road from Sapper Hill in a westerly direction approximately 340 metres long, and a 420 metre long, five metre wide horseshoe shaped housing plot development road to the south west of the spine road," he told Penguin News.
The first phase will provide 43 serviced housing plots with a further 28 in phase two of the development.
A biodisc sewage treatment plant is also to be installed to the north of the development.
The current work involves the spoil from the road excavation being spread and levelled to the north east of the site, to form an area for future sports pitches to be constructed, explained Mr Butler.
