cem_argTHE Falkland Islands Government has condemned damage done to the Argentine cemetery at Darwin.

Member of the Legislative Assembly Dick Sawle said in a statement: “From what we have been told this appears to be damage to a glass screen.  We understand the police are investigating what appears to be an act of vandalism.  Clearly we condemn any action of this sort and very much regret that this might have happened - anyone who knows anything about the cause of the damage should contact the police.  The Families Commission has been informed and is working on the arrangements for repair.”

The cemetery holds the remains of 237 Argentine combatants killed during the 1982 Falklands War. It is located west of the Darwin Settlement close to the location of the Battle of Goose Green.
